New cars when brought from the showroom are accompanied with originally warranty that is provided by the car manufacturer, which means that the manufacturer will bore the risk of repairs and any other services which is required for the smooth functioning of the car. This warranty cover for the car is only limited to three years or 36000 miles or 60000 miles in some instances. After the warranty expires, the owner of the car will have to pay from this pocket for all the repairs and servicing thereafter. This is when used car extended warranty comes into rescue. But here the warranty does not come from the manufacturer but the dealer who indulges in such contract of providing warranty on used cars. Apart from the personally owned cars, the buyers who are intending to buy used vehicles should verify the warranty on the car as the warranties are solely transferable during the sale of car. Used car extended warranties cover only half on the repairs. It does not entertain total refund. The buyer will have to pay the money from his pocket and thereafter can get half on the paid money refund though recommended procedures. Some contracts specify that it will cover the repairs for only for specific period. Used car extended warranties are useful when there are unexpected repairs.
