Growing up in the 1960′s in Vermont was a wonderful time to be a child. In my neighborhood we had dozens and dozens of houses whose yards were all open for us kids to run through on our way to new adventures, no one had no trespassing signs nor where there any fences to block our paths. A few of the houses had a fruit tree like apple trees and pear trees and it was well known that our neighbors welcomed the picking of this wonderful summer fruit when we passed by. Some times we would bring a jug of water and sit on a freshly cut lawn eating pears and apples while we laughed and enjoyed the freedom of being a kid. Our neighborhood and its fruit trees were a perfect eco-system to grow up in.
