Travel Facts: Victoria Falls In Africa

Locals refer to Victoria Falls as Mosi oa Tunya which translates to “the smoke that thunders”. It took thousands of years of land erosion for this majestic falls to appear. Victoria Falls was already well talked about in Africa when David Livingstone discovered it in 1855. Since that day, it has been known to the west and is now revered as one of the world’s most beautiful bodies of water. Surprisingly, it isn’t the highest or widest waterfalls. It doesn’t even push out massive volumes of water. However, Victoria Falls does have the largest sheet of water, undivided and falling over the cliff in unison.
